- TCB Wines
TCB Wines, a wine cellar located in Rawsonville, Western Cape, has taken a major step towards energy independence with the installation of a comprehensive solar energy system. The setup includes 504 roof-mounted 560W solar panels, 40 batteries—each with a capacity of 14.336kWh—and a 500kW hybrid inverter. This system significantly reduces the winery’s reliance on the national grid, providing a more sustainable and cost-effective energy solution.
One of the key drivers behind TCB’s investment in renewable energy was the instability of the local electricity supply, with frequent power outages disrupting operations. As much of the winery’s production process—such as irrigation, cooling, pumping, and filtration—depends on a consistent energy supply, energy stability is not just a convenience but a necessity.
By adopting this advanced solar technology, TCB Wines has taken a major step towards energy resilience. The improved energy reliability not only supports operational efficiency but also contributes to the consistent quality of their wines.
This initiative is a clear example of 2Zero50’s mission to deliver innovative, tailored renewable energy solutions to meet the unique needs of the agricultural sector.
